Rooted in faith and the Hilltop neighborhood, Peace Community Center believes education is an integral part of a strong community. We support and encourage youth historically underrepresented in college to cultivate their academic and leadership talents so that they can gain full access to educational opportunities and reach their full potential.

We envision a vibrant community of hope, where youth become life-long learners who act with compassion and confidence, using their diverse gifts for positive change.

Community – because all people are a vital part of building community grounded in enduring relationships and promotion of the common good.

Justice – because equitable access to opportunities and a commitment to diversity help people flourish as capable learners and as engaged, compassionate citizens.

Learning – because on-going creativity, ingenuity, and acquisition of knowledge throughout a person’s life enriches individual lives, generates energy and vitality in the community, and enhances resourcefulness in embracing our ever changing world.

Wholeness – because we care about the emotional, physical and spiritual well- being of all people, we encourage the development of integrity, compassion, and the habits that lead to healthy and productive lives.

Joy – because celebration, a positive outlook, humor and grace nurture hope and sustain hearts joined in common purpose.

IMG_2381When Christian was a fourth grader, he was being home-schooled by his great-grandmother. She was concerned that he wasn't getting enough preparation in math, so she began bringing him to our evening elementary program. Within a couple months, we helped Christian get enrolled at McCarver Elementary School, where he quickly rose to the top of his class. Christian has been able to grow up with Peace, and he's now a 7th grader in our Hilltop Scholars program. He's reading at a college-level and he's thriving in school.
